DTC Update
Nick Dang. IT role critical; technology role tripled. Budget
needs to be based on FTE. IT staff has dropped. Services and
infrastructure have doubled. Concern about supporting
classroom.
This concern has already been taken to DBC is looking into this.
Don is made a motion to add this concern (IT staffing levels) to
the budge allocation model – Alan seconded this
Paul asked to see more rationale and limitations to this. It was
explained that recommending this discussion does not say to
add increase IT, but to discuss IT staffing at each college.
College IT Manager is not included in allocation model for each
college.
Jorge added a friendly amendment IT infrastructure support
costs instead of staffing.
TPPC is recommending that Resource Allocation Model include
IT infrastructure support costs
OLD BUSINESS
6. Searchable Database Searchable database where students can search for online
courses at any college and it will show open and closes
sections.
7.
ADA Compliance of
college/district
websites
NEW BUSINESS
1. Student enrollment
verification for library
2. Three strikes rule
Jorge will follow up and get us
a target date.
Waiting for coding to get correct – Albert is working on this
(apparently according to Paul, as of a few weeks ago, still has
some bugs in it)
Pierce waiting on enterprise software to help with ADA
Paul will contact Mission DSPS
compliance.
and will get back to Wendy
Should contact state chancellor’s office – State has a high tech
center – could link us to a vendor to give us the tools to
determine whether sites ADA compliant or not
Campuses verify student enrollment. Right now IT
department downloads student information at the beginning
of the semester and use that for library databases. Need to be
real time as opposed at district at beginning of semester
because of later adds.
Jorge – easy to point EZ-Proxy to LDAP database to verify
students – but if district offline, everything offline. Moving it
centralized is that as soon as student registers – they will have
access to library. Jorge is hoping to get redundancy at Valley –
will try to do with internet connectivity.
Alan brought up this rule in hopes to let students be more
aware. Maybe have a warning when student clicks to drop a
class, the system will say “this is your second (or first or third)
3
Reps will go back to their
campuses and see if they are
interested in this – will be an
individual campus decision.
Paul will also go to Barbara
and librarians regarding this.
Alan will send to Don and Don
will send on to Yasmin
through the senate.

attempt and you will not be able to re-register for this course.
3. Apple
Paul said that he got an email that students were sent emails
when registering for a class for a second time.
LACCD has a master agreement with Apple that includes
training.
