TPPC Self-Evaluation Dr. Barrera stated that Wendy would like the group to look at TPPC evaluations…but will need to be put on the next agenda. Once Minutes are approved they ought to be posted: draft on internal site? Currently on a public site Don Gauthier: need to make a (priority) list and add a check mark for everything that was done Obstacle: do mtgs at the DO help or hurt? Should there be video conferences rather than a call-in via CCC Confer members would not have to come downtown to attend a meetingmaybe use Zoom which is not technically challenging. Jorge will do a demo. Changes to be made: have a discussion regarding the schedule of TPPC mtgs…Dr Barrera’s suggestion: maybe 10 instead of 11 (no mtg in July, no mtg in Dec). Don Gauthier: honing down membership; would be helpful to know the composition of other committeenot all have faculty Dr. Barrera: open to language that better describes what is done by this committee. Chancellors Directive 70 (small taskforce)revised 1995needs to be reviewedeach committee funnels up to TPPC. TPPC has overarching authority but Build has brought up issues with individual colleges instead of going to the TPPC. st Don: composition of College Committee: 1 week of a semester is not a good time to meet; a smaller membership is more viable. Jorge: create a feedback loop for more inclusion let colleges know about a project and ask for feedback. 1 Technology Policy and Planning Commmittee Los Angeles Community College District City • East • Harbor • Mission • Pierce • Southwest • Trade-Tech • Valley • West 3. 4. ? Bill Sewell and Camille could not be here today. SIS is negotiating a contract with Cyber; they will finish in 2017 which is one year later than anticipated allows for more testing not a problem because we pay a fixed price. However, about $80 will now come out of operational funds instead of bond funds. Dr. Barrera: Mathematica update: J. Watson contacted Neil Duncan regarding the purchase of tutorials for math. It’s a knowledge-based database. Chancellor will fund it this year: $36K, use it as a districtwide pilot, then create an RFP. If Mathematica is the selected company the price would go down. Put on Oct 7 Board Agenda NEW BUSINESS 5. Mario Perez: What happened recently at the Data Center when it went down because of an explosion across the street. Dr. Barrera: Completion of Valley College is a priority. If it was in operation, students could have been able to register in real time. The building is there and so is some of the equipment (need equipment list and rationale. Cost was sent by Ed Molina). Some of the Hardware needs to be purchased/installed/configured to mirror image the ESC Data Center and to make sure there is connectivity between Valley and ESC Linda Delzeit: Problems with identity theft. Need to look at username and e-mail format. 2
