FORMAT FOR THE PROJECT REPORTS
Below is the required format for the laboratory project reports for ME
324. Note that the reports are expected to be 5 to 10 pages long
including figures. Times New Roman or Arial fonts are acceptable
with 12-point font size and line spacing is required to be 1.5.
OBJECTIVE
This is where you clearly state the objective(s) of the project with one
or two sentences.
INTRODUCTION
Give an idea about the overall topic and the purpose of the report and
provide an overview of the contents as a paragraph.
BACKGROUND
Provide a general overview of the topic including a short literature
review, types of processes, important terminology, definitions etc.
You are required to visit the Parks Library for this section of the
report.
PROCEDURE
Describe method(s) and procedures used as well as the equipment
and facilities, including software, design criteria etc.
RESULTS
Present your data and/or findings here. Include graphs, outputs,
calculations etc.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS
Comment on your results and on the outcome of the projects. Draw
conclusions and state them clearly.
APPENDIX (optional)
Add anything you consider relevant to the project such as drawings,
formulas, pictures etc.
REFERENCES
Academic paper citing style is required. Course textbook will not be
accepted as the sole source.
CONTRIBUTIONS PAGE
This is where you indicate the contribution of each group member to
the project. State the nature of the individual contributions as well as
the percent contribution of each member. Each member must sign
this page.
