The paper derived a theoretical model to describe individuals’ procrastination decisions. People make their decisions on the starting time of the work and the length of time they would like to invest in the project. These two factors contributed the utility through quality, cost and risk functions. By using the utility maximizing conditions, necessary conditions of procrastinating behaviors are derived. 04/2014 “The Effect of Uncertainty toward Tasks on Procrastination Behaviors-An Economic Experiment Approach” (The experimental design paper for Econ 4050H Experimental Economics). The paper designed an experiment to test the hypotheses that a higher level of uncertainty will lead to a higher level of procrastination. Previous literature in the field indicated fixed present cost bias causes procrastinating behaviors. Instead of supporting previous literature, the experiment was designed to find evidence that people choose to procrastinate in order to reduce the risk as rational behaviors. 04/2013 “To be Smuggled into United States-A Research on Illegal Immigrating Trading from China” (The final paper for Econ 4597.01 Underground Economics). The paper explained the comparative advantages and disadvantages among different methods of smuggling into United States. It developed and supported the idea that higher cost usually results in a higher probability of success and lower probability of death among air route, sea route and land route. 04/2013 “Academic Achievement of Elementary School Students in Ohio Explained by Building Condition” (The empirical research paper for Econ 5410 Econometrics 1). This was an econometric paper using ordinary least square to look at the relationship between elementary students’ academic performance and the condition of the school buildings. The result indicated the building condition, measured by the average student spending on buildings, improves the student performance until a certain level, after which the impact become negative. 04/2014 Impact of US government agriculture subsidies. (The research paper for Econ 5650 International Commodity Flow) This paper was a literature review of different views on US agriculture subsidies. It covered the formation of agriculture subsidies, its impact on domestic and international market and the future of agriculture subsidies.
