University Athletics Academic Advisory Committee

Thameling, Anthony Malta, Tommie Church
Absent: Leonard Clark, Anthony Walker,
Bennett moved that the cmte approve both the May and August minutes. Malta
seconded.
Chair Report:
None
AD Report:
Bennett introduced Kevin Price, Senior Associate Athletics Director , who will
represent the AD at all UAAAC meetings. Price took a moment to more fully
introduce himself and to share his work philosophy. He emphasized that there is
no reason our athletes cannot be successful in the classroom and on the field of
play.
FAR Report:
Bennett noted the Implementation Report for AIP is almost complete. He stated
that one UAAAC subcmte of at least 3 members will take over the AIP reports. He
asked for volunteers and emphasized that he hopes for a smooth transition from the
PATF to this new subcmte; he therefore suggests that the incoming members of
this subcmte attend several upcoming PATF meetings.
Thameling asked for clarification on the PATF’s role, and Bennett stated that the
cmte was formed to write an academic improvement plan for teams who are
underwater with the NCAA’s APR requirements (beneath minimum score of 930).
Bennett noted that this Academic subcmte will meet as needed. Thameling and
DeNardin volunteered to serve alongside Bennett and Michaelides, who are both
PATF members planning to maintain involvement with the process.
Athletic Academics:
Michaelides will begin reporting at next month’s meeting.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1st at 4 pm.
