Blackboard Learn Creating Column Categories Organizing grade columns into categories can be helpful when creating Smart Views, creating Weighted Columns, or organizing grades by their assignment type. Blackboard has preset categories (Assignments, Tests, etc.) but you can create custom categories to better suit your class. To begin, navigate to the Full Grade Center in the left-hand menu. In the top toolbar, click Manage and select Categories. The next page displays all categories that are available as well as any grade center columns that are organized into those categories. Only columns that you have created can be deleted, Blackboard columns are permanent. Click Create Category to make a new category.
