PLS 361 NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE GET OUT OF THE CLASSROOM AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE THIS COURSE OFFERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO: -BUILD YOUR RESUME -LEARN VALUABLE LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND RECEIVE PROFESSIONAL MENTORING -GET INVOLVED WITH LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS OF YOUR CHOICE -MAKE CONNECTIONS AND NETWORK WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS -EARN CREDIT TOWARD THE UNCW NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP MINOR -STUDY WITH A UNCW DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR THIS COURSE MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS FOR: -UNCW EXPLORATION BEYOND THE CLASSROOM -INTERNSHIP FOR THE PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION MINOR (AS A CULMINATING PROFESSIONAL OF FIELD EXPERIENCE) This course teaches students about leadership and management in organizations. Class sessions are stimulating with many guest speakers from the nonprofit community; sessions with community leaders feature student networking and receptions. Students apply their learning in projects they complete for local nonprofit organizations during the summer. The skills students acquire in class- managing human resources, promoting and marketing, creating organizational mission and vision statements, etc. - are highly useful and transferable regardless of whether you decide to work in business, government, or a non profit.
