Section 1. The University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Student Government Association
adopts the following Resolution:
WHEREAS, The Student Government Association of UNCW serves the voice and vision of
UNC Wilmington students; and,
WHEREAS, The Student Government Association of UNC Wilmington is entrusted with
representing the best interest of the students of UNC Wilmington; and,
WHEREAS, The Campus Conduct System of UNC Wilmington has enjoyed proven success as
an educationally driven process that gives students the opportunity for a peer review of their
actions, and allows for self-reflection and development through educational sanctions reached by
a group of their peers; and,
WHEREAS, The Campus Conduct System has recently received scrutiny and faces potential
changes that would undermine the fundamental purpose of educating students on the importance
of sound decision making practices and has been encouraged to adopt a more punitive based
system; and,
WHERAS, The Campus Conduct System has a proven record of success and has been
recognized for the benefits of its educationally focused efforts in retained student enrollment;
and,
WHEREAS, The Campus Conduct System aligns with the majority of schools in the UNC
system, and is in full compliance of recent legislative changes; now therefore be it,

RESOLVED, that The Student Government Association recognizes that it is crucial to the
fundamental purpose of the Campus Conduct system that developments are student lead
initiatives, based on majority representation of the perspectives and substantiated concerns of
their peers; and be it further,
RESOLVED, that The Student Government Association does not support any additional
changes at this time to the educationally focused process of UNC Wilmington’s Campus
Conduct system; and therefore be it,
RESOLVED, The Student Government Association of UNC Wilmington supports the present
state of the Campus Conduct system due to its focus on serving the education development and
progression of all students.
