International Women’s Day Committee Volunteer Position Description Overview The International Women’s Day Committee provides a great opportunity for students to experience civic responsibility first-hand and gain a greater sense of connection to the College community. The student committee will play a key leadership role in the execution of on-campus activities to increase awareness of global citizenship, and how students can positively impact their local and global communities. Weekly team meetings provide opportunities for development and growth related to event planning, community development and teambuilding! This is a short term volunteer opportunity which will last from mid-January to mid-March, 2013. Volunteer Requirements • Be a part-time or full-time registered student at Conestoga College • Positive Ambassador of Conestoga College • Energy, will and enthusiasm to create positive change • Be available to attend weekly or bi-weekly meetings and attend the event on March 8th • Possess or have a desire to build strong communication and teamwork skills Roles and Responsibilities • Meet weekly or bi-weekly for an hour to 1.5 hour each week from mid-January through to mid-March • Attend a two-hour orientation training to the committee, taking place after regular class hours • Participate in the brainstorming, organization, promotion and execution of a one-day event on March 8th Opportunities for Growth and Development • Strengthen oral communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills • Gain event planning, promotion and organizational experience • Opportunity to network on campus with other students, staff and community organizations • Deepen self-awareness and build self-confidence • Participate in a variety of team activities To recognize and thank our International Women’s Day Committee, we provide them with: • Thank you letter and Certificate of Recognition by Conestoga College’s Student Life Department • Invitation to the Student Life Department’s year-end Recognition event If you have any questions, please contact Janina Robinson, Student Life Programmer: jbrobinson@conestogac.on.ca or 519-748-5220 ext. 2583 International Women’s Day Committee Registration Form – please print clearly!
