Our Mission: The purpose of AAMN is to provide a framework for nurses as a group to meet,
discuss, and influence factors which affect men as nurses. AAMN is a national organization. The
UNCW chapter is recognized as a student organization by the UNCW Campus Activities and
Involvement Center and is approved and sanctioned as a local chapter under the Bylaws of the
AAMN national organization (www.aamn.org).
The objective of the local AAMN chapter shall be to provide men and women from the UNCW
community and the city of Wilmington with education, knowledge, and skills to enhance the
role of men in the nursing profession.
Meetings: Monthly meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month at 315pm in the School
of Nursing (NB) McNeill Hall Room 1051. Meetings will be followed by a guest speaker who will
introduce and discuss topics of interest to men in the nursing profession.
Membership: Any UNCW student, alumni, staff, faculty member, or member of the community
is eligible for membership, provided that such person expresses an interest in the
development, enhancement, and promotion of the nursing profession. Members of the national
AAMN organization will be accepted as chapter members. Membership in the national
organization is required for all elected officers and encouraged for all members in the chapter.
Active student members with full privileges are required to attend two scheduled meetings and
a minimum of one planned activity per semester. Associate members (alumni, regional nurses,
AND students) are entitled to membership privileges excluding holding local chapter office and
voting.
Fees: Local chapter membership dues are $20 per academic year collected annually by October
1st. New members joining the organization after October 1st will pay dues after attending at
least two chapter meetings. New members joining the organization between April and
September will be offered a special early membership fee that includes a chapter T-shirt.
