+ General Education Program (GEP) Requirements: To complete the requirements for graduation and the General Education
Program, various categories of credit hours and co-requisites must be satisfied. NCSU approved GEP course lists for each category
can be found at: http://oucc.dasa.ncsu.edu/general-education-program/. Equivalent UNCW courses that satisfy NCSU GEP
requirements can be found at: http://uncw.edu/preeng/CurrentStudents/currentNCSUGeneralEducation.html.
1
Courses listed in red will be taken through the NC State College of Engineering Distance Education Program.
UNCW students often have difficulty securing a seat in ENG 200 or 201 in the freshman year. Students may also take ENG 112, 113, or 114 at
Cape Fear Community College to fulfill NCSU’s English composition transfer admission requirement.
3
Advanced Communication Electives: Select COM 101: Public Speaking or ENG 204: Introduction to Professional Writing (transfer as COM 101
and ENG 331, respectively). Select foreign language courses may also be taken to fulfill this requirement.
4
Students must take at least 30 transferrable credits in the freshman year in order to transfer to the COE after the first year of study. UNI 101
does not count toward these credit hours, but is a required UNCW course.
5
Engineering Technical Electives: See NCSU semester by semester plan for departmental approved list.
6
Nuclear Engineering Electives: See NCSU semester by semester plan for departmental approved list.
7
Technical Electives: See NCSU semester by semester plan for departmental approved list.
