Gain a better understanding of the APELSCIDLA Regulations and
how they impact your practice as a professional.
What's Covered in the Seminar:

Review the APELSCIDLA Regulations as well as ethical responsibilities of licensed design
professionals.

Discuss practical examples and case studies dealing with ethics and the Regulations.

Take an open book examination of the Virginia APELSCIDLA Regulations and those portions of the
Code of Virginia pertinent to the Regulations.

Grade the exam in class and all questions will be reviewed and cross-referenced with the
Regulations.
*
You will receive copies of the Virginia APELSCIDLA Regulations, its Resource Guide, and copies
of the various codes of ethics for professional engineers, architects, land surveyors, landscape
architects and interior designers.

Receive a certificate at the conclusion of the seminar verifying the earning of 5 Professional
Development Hours.

3. Earn 5 of the 16 required continuing education credits by participating in this seminar. In 2006, the
General Assembly passed legislation requiring continuing education for Professional Engineers,
Architects and Land Surveyors. Effective April 1, 2009, these professionals are required to
complete the equivalent of 16 continuing education credits each biennium to maintain their
license.

Cost: $275 for VSPE members; $375 for non-members; register 3 or more from the same
company/firm/agency at the same time and receive a 10% discount. Registration fee includes continuous
breaks, box lunch, PDH certificate, and copies of the APELSCIDLA Regulations, its Resource Guide, and
copies of the various codes of ethics for professional engineers, architects, land surveyors, landscape
architects and interior designers.
Instructor: Richard L. Bidwell, P.E., F.NSPE. A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State
University with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering; licensed in VA as a P.E. since 1951; served on
the Virginia State APELSCIDLA Board from June 1977 to June 1982 and was president in 1978;
Corporate Director of Energy Resources for Reynolds Metals for 13 years and Corporate Director of
Contracts and Regulations for six years negotiating large energy contracts worldwide; and, was President
of VSPE from 1992-1993.
