Broadband Job Description – University Student Programs Series - 12/15/2006
University Student Programs Specialist III (3434)
Basic Purpose/Job Function: Responsible for administration of student programs and services
Examples of Titles Replaced: None.
Typical Functions May Include:
1. Overseeing the overall administrative operations of student programs and services and their
delivery
2. Providing budgetary oversight for program areas
3. Planning program development, conducting needs assessments and evaluating program
effectiveness
4. Identifying and developing marketing goals and strategies
5. Interpreting policies and procedures and resolving problems
6. Monitoring funding sources and writing grant proposals
7. Supervising program staff, including hiring, firing, training and evaluating performance
8. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and university policies
9. Preparing reports, training materials, and other program documentation, directives and
communications
10. Making a variety of presentations at seminars, events, information sessions, conferences and
meetings
11. Conducting workshops, seminars, classes, and other special programs for students
12. Performing other related duties as assigned
Risk Management: Uses established safety practices to protect the health and safety of personnel and
property.
Supervision of Others: May supervise students, clerical staff and/or other program staff.
Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from designated supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors Degree

Skills: Effective oral and written communication, research, mathematical and computer skills,
ability to work independently, good organizational skills

Special Requirements: Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods;
may be required to travel; ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
