Eduventures Research Group
OSU Student Affairs has entered into a research consortium with Eduventures, a company that
works with universities to conduct research on issues of interest. OSU is one of about 25 or
universities in the consortium. There are several research projects that are planned for this year.
The first is the Student Affairs Strategic Alignment study that is currently underway. OSU will
get a report on this study sometime later in the fall. The second study is Learning Outside the
Classroom which will be conducted in October. This study will be focused on sophomores and
seniors using a random sample and a web survey. The third will be a study on minority student
success that will occur probably in winter term. There are likely other studies that will be done
but these are the ones that are pretty set for now.
Rebecca indicated that she would keep the council informed and would share information,
research findings, etc. as they become available. This may be information that can inform and
help the work of the council and units in the council.
Lisa asked about other known surveys of an extensive nature that are happening this year and
whether we could get a calendar of this so that it could be used in planning. The group came up
with several possibilities of these kinds of surveys for this year. Rebecca will check with
departments and see if a calendar can be put together. Surveys that we think are happening
this year include: Housing EBI, Rec Sports, SHS ACHA and maybe the library survey in
addition to the ones by Eduventures.
