Course requirements for all UNCW degrees include: (1) University Studies, (2) specific major requirements, and (3)
sufficient elective hours for a combined total of a minimum of 124 hours.

NOTE: To satisfy the Applied Learning Requirement, a student must complete 6 credit hours of study abroad (at the intermediate
level or above) or 3 credit hours of internship, directed individual study, practicum, honors, or service learning.
A “C-” or better grade is required in each course counted toward the major and a “C” (2.00) or better average for all courses counted
toward the major. Also required is a passing score on the departmental FRH oral proficiency exam.
Teacher Licensure: Admission to the Watson School of Education is required for enrolment in EDN 300- and 400-level courses
numbered higher than EDN 303. A grade of “C” or better is required in all professional education courses. Students may repeat
courses in which they earned lower than “C” only with permission of the dean of the WSE. A cumulative GPA of 2.70 is required for
eligibility for the practicum semester. Students planning to pursue licensure should apply to the Watson School of Education as soon
as admissions requirements are met (typically in the sophomore year), and plan their programs in regular consultation with their
advisors. Teacher Certification requirements are established at the state level and may be changed by the state at any time.
