Political Science (PLS) College: Arts & Sciences With Secondary (9-12) Social Studies Teacher Licensure Course requirements for all UNCW degrees include: (1) University Studies, (2) specific major requirements, and (3) sufficient elective hours for a combined total of a minimum of 124 hours. In addition to completing requirements for the major, Political Science majors seeking licensure in social studies must complete the Teacher Education Program requirements and a minimum of 21 collateral hours including HST 101 or 102, and HST 104, HST 105, HST 106, and at least one course in each of the following areas: 1. Sociology/Anthropology 2. Geography 3. Economics (ECH 125 is strongly recommended) Students must earn a “C-” or better in all major courses. A minimum GPA of “C” (2.00) is required in all political science courses.
