See handout. UNCW/CMS will host the next two years (2003 & 2004). Will need faculty participation for one full Saturday in February 2003. Will be some training before that. More to follow. Discussion Item: CMS Pilot Projects Evaluation Members had previously reviewed and scored proposals (one Primary Reviewer and one Secondary Reviewer per proposal) based on 5 categories: Intrinsic Merit, Interdisciplinary contribution to marine science, potential for publications, potential for future extramural funding, science protocols. Review process for final evaluation: Primary Reviewer discuss evaluation (or, if not present, facilitator read comments provided); Secondary Reviewer discuss evaluation (or, if not present, facilitator read comments provided); group discussion; finalize Primary Reviewer score; finalize Secondary Reviewer score; all vote on final score (secret ballot). Jim Merritt will tabulate vote, order proposals, and determine cutoff based on available funding (about $180,000). Results will be announced separately (expect within next 2 weeks).
