Discussion of progress of building

OPS Facility – Plans at State Construction

Dr. Watanabe Office/Labs – Will not be accommodated at MG in new OPS Facility;
New structures at Harbor Island being considered. Swing space alternatives being
developed.

o Additional land contiguous with CMS-MG may be purchased

Similar buildings may be alternate for OPS Buildings storage facilities if
not funded in New OPS Facility Project
Whole-building UPS will be installed during the New OPS Facility Project as part of
the construction contract, but funded through separate source

Brooks Avery: Could we use funds for Grad Student Healthcare?

Martin Posey: Summer Stipends best use of funds

Martin: Any Marine Science Researcher could apply

Lou Abrams: Recruitment Tool

Martin Posey: Set aside one or two summer stipend opportunities for entering
students
o Fund summer stipends to supplement academic year RA/TA
stipends


Ami Wilbur: Students should have to apply for these stipends

Richard Laws: Use some funds for equipment R&R

Dan: Also provide opportunity for departments without Master’s Programs to
get TA support
