ForSeniorResidentswhointendtowritetheACVPboards,thesupervisorwould normallyalsobethestudent’ssponsorfortheboardexaminationand,therefore, wouldbeboardcertified.InourDepartment,boardcertificationisusuallybythe ACVPinClinicalPathologyorAnatomicPathology,butSRswithanavianfocusmay choosetoprepareforthecertifyingexaminationoftheAmericanCollegeofPoultry Veterinarians(ACPV). SeniorResidentsarenotobligatedtoprepareforboardexaminationsduringtheir programandmayfocusonhoningdiagnostic,teachingandresearchskillsinvarious combinations.SeniorResidentswhoareunsureabouttheirreadinesstowritethe boardexaminationshouldseektheadviceoftheirsupervisorwellbeforeDecember (inthecaseoftheACVPexamination).
