We will be submitting the SART report in October to fulfill the grant requirements. Going forward, we will not collect ADRC data but will still be collecting VA data. “All call” information will be sent out soon, as sites will need to collect data for one week in September, likely the 8th-12th. ACL indicated that multiple states were not eligible to apply for continued funding also due to Medicaid nonsupport. If the President’s 2015 budget is passed, all states will mostly likely be eligible to apply for the 3 year funding opportunity next year. A no cost extension is being requested for Jen to continue to put in 5 hours a week to support some ADRC activities in the coming months. Judith Holt will complete the evaluation for an ADRC closing report, to re-cap the five year project. The final 3 OC taped recorded sessions will be transcribed and OC will be contacted by Judith to provide feedback. These recordings along with all the recordings will be used to highlight the program’s evaluation. Judith will also meet with Scott McBeth and Sandra Curcio, to discuss their successful relationship between ADRCs and CILs, and what changes they have seen within the state systems. An interview with Bear River staff person may be requested to provide feedback on the impact of the dedicated ADRC Medicaid Eligibility Worker. Tim Shea with the Utah Courts highlighted the ADRC in an article as part of the May Utah Bar Journal (article provided at the meeting) Nancy Bentley provided a brief on the spot update on the bill that passed in Congress bring Centers for Independent Living under the ACL umbrella – a move from the Board of Education. VA Office of Rural Health Projects- The program office should know by September 1st whether or not another one year of funds has been approved. There are 5 key options counselors that have completed the TRIP training through the VBA endorsement and four have taken the VSO accreditation exam. One staff person has passed the exam to date. Jen and Bret will present at the HCBS conference in September. Utah Department of Veteran and Military Affairs (UDVMA) are working with Jen to create a letter or flyer that could go out to people receiving meals on wheels to capture any veterans who may want some information on VA eligibility and service. This would provide veterans with a local ADRC contacts and then could make a referral to the UDVMA. Collective feedback will be given to UDVMA in finalizing a flyer with modification to each agency’s information and a timeline for a pilot will be created for approval. Trainings- Jen and 5 other staff attended the VA Mental Health Summit on September 12 at the University College of Nursing. They had a great presentation on military culture and it was an overall worthwhile training to attend. The Annual ADRC Conference is next week, Tuesday, August 26th from 8:30-5pm. The morning will have general topics and afternoon will be VA focused. Rocky Mountain Geriatrics Conference is Sept 15th and 16th at Snowbird. The ADRC received funding from Kennecott to provide scholarships to ADRC staff. The state long term care ombudsman conference is sept 29th and 30th. VD-HCBS Update- Scott McBeth confirmed 17 veterans are on the program through Mountainland AAA. Julie Larsen at the VA has been a great asset and great to work with in kicking this program off. SL County Aging and Adult Services are involved in their readiness assessment documentation. They hope to have the process completed by the end of August and have some clients on the program by September. MDS Section Q Update- The new resident letter went out on July 1st in the packet. No identified clients have called agencies yet from receiving this new packet. A patient release form has Not been included on the Nursing Home selfreferral form. DOH wants to educate the Nursing Home staff on MDS Section Q and the new process that will be happening, starting with the “pilot site”. Once the education has been done, an Interagency Agreement will be signed by DOH and Active Re-Entry. The New 2-1-1 Director, Chiara Cameron, joined the meeting and provided an 2-1-1 update. They have provided 24/7 access for consumers since March. In 2013 HB 56 made 2-1-1 the official Health and Human Services line. There new database could help agencies create their own specific database, at a fee, that 2-1-1 would provide maintenance and updating.
