The University of North Carolina Wilmington offers a Master of Education and Add-on License in
Curriculum/Instruction and Supervision (CIS) that can be completed entirely online. The
programs provide advanced study to prepare effective school and district level curriculum and
instructional leaders. CIS is appropriate for classroom teachers, building administrators, teacher
educators, and other personnel who play a role in the professional development of others.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Curriculum/Instruction and Supervision program will be qualified for a variety
of positions, including Curriculum Specialist, Reading or Math Specialist, and Title I Specialist.
Others accept district leadership roles around professional development of teachers, curriculum
development, or instructional leadership.
UNCW Application Information
Prospective students must meet criteria for admission to the UNCW Graduate School and apply
through the normal application process. Curriculum/Instruction and Supervision has rolling
admissions, allowing you to start at any point in the academic year (Fall, Spring, Summer I,
Summer II). Applicants for the Curriculum/Instruction and Supervision Add-on Licensure will
complete an application for non-degree status.

A statement of purpose delineating
professional background, future goals, and

those stated goals.
Three recommendations from individuals in
professionally relevant fields, addressing the
applicant's academic skills and/or potential for
successful graduate study.
Official scores on the MAT or GRE; scores
more than five years old will not be accepted,
(UNCW institution code is 5907).
