Jennifer Waring Jennifer Waring has always been passionate about learning and teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Grades Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. After teaching for a few years, she returned to UNCW and earned a Master’s of Education degree with a concentration in Curriculum, Instruction, and Supervision. She is also National Board Certified. Jennifer is currently teaching 7th grade language arts at Noble Middle School in Wilmington. In her twelve years at Noble, she has also taught 8th grade language arts. In addition to teaching language arts, Jennifer also served as the STAE (Striving To Achieve Excellence) coordinator and teacher. Prior to her work with STAE, she was one of the original site team members who implemented the AVID (Advancement Via Individualized Determination) program at Noble. While at Noble, she has served on the School Improvement Team as a member and SIT Chair, been the writing coordinator for the school, partnership teacher, as well as, serving on various other committees. She is currently the language arts department chair and the school’s site coordinator for UNCW. Prior to working at Noble, she worked at South Brunswick Middle School in Brunswick County for three years teaching 7th grade language arts and 8th grade social studies. During the 2014-2015 school year, Jennifer was a member of Governor Pat McCrory’s Governor’s Teacher Network and conducted research and professional development in the area of using previewing strategies to improve student achievement. Some of her research interests include mentoring interns and new teachers, as well as, teacher training, best practices to improve student achievement, and the implementation of successful PLC’s (Professional Learning Communities).
