Claire has not only performed remarkably well in her day to day duties, but when tasked
with taking on several new and significant responsibilities, Claire went above and beyond
the call of duty, exceeding all expectations and putting advancement of this university
first. Her strong work ethic, unwavering commitment, and dedication to UNCW has
caught the attention of university faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and visitors so
much that, at the request of Chancellor Gary Miller, Claire’s responsibilities have
recently expanded to include overseeing not only all University Advancement events, but
now all university events involving the Chancellor.
Claire and her department worked tirelessly as the number of university events increased
from 76 in FY 2011 to 232 in FY 2012, requiring the addition of two new members to her
staff. As a result of their efforts, total event attendance tripled over last year and the
number of invitations, meeting notices, and reminder emails her office sent out increased
from 42,000 to 70,000.
In four month’s time, Claire and her staff executed two
significant events flawlessly; the finale of UNCW’s seven year capital campaign,
“Soaring to Greatness,” in January and the installation of Chancellor Gary Miller in April
of this year. Under normal circumstances, each of these events would have taken a year
of planning and preparation to execute, but she made it happen in a greatly compressed
period of time.
