Re:
PV Summer Training & Enrichment Program (S.T.E.P.)
We are proud to announce the return of the Prairie View A & M University Summer Training
and Enrichment Program (PV S.T.E.P.). Effective June 6, 2016, Prairie View A&M University
will once again offer the on-campus, centrally funded, paid summer internship program, now
known as PV S.T.E.P.
PV S.T.E.P. will offer students the opportunity to gain meaningful career-related experiences in
an area associated with their desired occupational goals. The internship term will last 10 weeks,
beginning Monday, June 6, 2016 with the program ending on Thursday, August 11, 2016.
To prepare for a productive summer, departments will submit internship position descriptions
and job postings via PV TALENT beginning March 21, 2016 through March 25, 2016. The
position description must provide specific job responsibilities and required deliverables for
students approved by the Student Employment Office. Departments may visit the Student
Employment Office website to access PV TALENT. The approval of the internship is subject to
funding, as well as fair and equitable practices to ensure maximized student placement. At a
minimum, the Student Employment Office will attempt to provide each department one (1)
student intern to allow all departments an opportunity to participate in the program.
For consideration in the Summer Training & Enrichment Program, applicants must apply via PV
TALENT, submit a 300-500 word synopsis regarding the student’s interest in the program, and
attach an unofficial copy of the academic transcript with the application. A committee, selected
by the hiring department, will review the synopsis and transcript (along with qualifications and
other documents) for further screening and selection. Placement is based on student
experience, educational training, correlation with internship requirements, and career
endeavor.
