New Business
A. Fall Involvement Fair – Thursday, September 5th 11:00AM -12:30PM
a. Anyone can come out and help support
b. Volunteers try to be there by 10:45 a.m. on the campus green, rain location is the
Richardson Ballroom
c. Attire: CSL t-shirts if members, non-members casual wear
B. New member applications due Friday, September 6th by 5:00PM
a. Up on website at Winthrop.edu/csl send to csl@winthrop.edu or slide under door at
digs 206 and 207 in the student orgs computer lab in the back right corner
b. People who are excited about Winthrop and want to make a difference
C. New Member Elections – Monday, September 9th 7:00PM
a. Will receive a confirmation email and will stand before the council the following
Monday night for an interview
D. CSL Retreat – September 13th-15th
a. Important to be available for retreat
b. Be leaving Winthrop on Friday the 13th at 2:30pm and arriving again at 2-3 p.m. on
Sunday
c. Will be in Brevard, NC roughly 2 hours and 45minutes away
E. Member Installation – Monday, September 16th
a. Ceremony to install members
b. Attire is business professional
c. At 7:00 p.m. in place of meeting

New Business
a. LIFT Conference February 8th ….. Jarvais Jackson
i. Looking for people who are interested in getting involved from planning workshops, to
doing workshops, lunch activities, decorations, graphic designs, etc.
1. If you are interested meet with Jarvais after the meeting
ii. Leadership development for Winthrop students, focused towards new leaders
iii. Workshop presenters can be from different schools
iv. Schedule is to start the day with a key notes speaker, then have a group come in to do
an alcohol activity, then go into lunch, then into break out session that will consist of
different tracks that you can choose from, all about networking and getting to know
people you didn’t before, fostering new relationships and networking skills; specifically
talking about personal branding, networking, social media, etc. for break out sessions
1. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Digs, Owens, and possibly the West Center

Chair’s Report
A. Letter to education officials
a. Dr. Comstock has gone to Columbia to lobby with education officials for money
b. There was 3.1% increase in tuition, Dr. Comstock wants to prevent that from happening,
requested for salaries for faculty and growing departments
c. Get one official letter from CSL to support Dr. Comstock
i. A vote was taken from members by a show of hands… unanimous by all present
