Winthrop University Graduate Faculty Assembly
August 18, 2000
I. Call to order from Dr. Jo Koster Tarvers, Chair.
II. Approval of Minutes from the April 21, 2000 meeting, with the correction of
the spelling of Dr. Alan Huston’s name, and correction of Dr. James
Johnston’s title as Acting Associate Vice President.of Graduate and
Continuing Studies.
III. Opening remarks from the Chair. Dr. Tarvers welcomed the faculty back and
expressed her wishes for a good year. She introduced Dr. Dave Pretty
(History) as this year’s secretary, and Dr. Rob Hutchinson (Music) as this
year’s parliamentarian.
IV. Remarks from Dean A. David Franklin.
Dean Franklin could not be present because of jury duty, and his remarks
were deferred to the next meeting.
V. Remarks from the Chair of the Graduate Council, Alan Huston.
Dr. Huston deferred his opening remarks to the next meeting.
IV. Remarks by Dr. Melford Wilson, Vice President for Academic
Affairs.
Dr. Wilson welcomed Dean Franklin to Winthrop.
V. There was no old business.
VI. There was no new business.
VII. A motion to adjourn was approved.
