Title: Assistant Professor of Counseling and Development – Clinical Mental Health Counseling (One-Year Appointment) The Counseling and Development Program of the Department of Counseling, Leadership, and Educational Studies at Winthrop University is seeking an innovative and involved faculty member to teach in the clinical mental health counseling track, an academic unit containing accredited programs in clinical mental health (CMH) and school counseling. The one-year appointment position provides opportunity to teach courses in the M.Ed. in Counseling and Development Program, including practicums and internships. The Richard W. Riley College of Education (COE) has a strong reputation in the preparation and advancement of highly qualified professionals for South Carolina and the country. The CMH and School Counseling tracks are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP). As an NCATE accredited institution and a member of the National Network for Educational Renewal, Winthrop maintains close working relationships with area schools as well as a number of state and community agencies. Major Responsibilities: Teach afternoon/evening graduate level core courses in counseling and specialty courses; clinical mental health counseling experience preferred Supervise practicum and internship students Serve on the Program Assessment Team Advise graduate students Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education (CACREP-accredited program preferred) Licensed or license eligible in SC or NC Record of successful counseling experience Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and cross-cultural curricula Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at the department, college, university, and community levels Preferred Qualifications: College-level teaching experience in a CACREP accredited program desired Active in professional counseling organizations (ACA, ASCA, or state counseling associations) The ability to use and model appropriate use of technology Employment Conditions: Nine-month, full-time, one-year appointment position.
