Title : Assistant Professor/Instructor, Exercise Science Program

The Richard W. Riley College of Education at Winthrop University is seeking an innovative and involved faculty member to serve as a one-year temporary faculty member in the Exercise Science

Program. We seek a candidate who will be a teacher and productive member of the faculty.

The Exercise Science program is housed in the Department of Physical Education, Sport and Human

Performance and the faculty member will have an academic appointment in that area. Teaching assignments may include biomechanics, exercise physiology and lab, exercise testing and prescription, fitness concepts, research methods, supervision of field and internship candidates, and other assignments within the department. Winthrop University enjoys close proximity to Charlotte,

Major Responsibilities:

Teach biomechanics, exercise physiology and lab, exercise testing and prescription, fitness concepts, research methods, and other related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels;

Advise students in the exercise science program;

Participate in community and professional organizations;

Work with a diverse student population;

Demonstrate ability to teach via distance education;

Recruit students into the exercise science program.

Required Qualifications:

 Master’s in exercise physiology/kinesiology or closely related field;

Record of successful teaching.

Desired Qualifications:

Doctorate in exercise physiology/kinesiology or closely related field (ABD nearing dissertation completion may be considered);

ACSM certification at Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) or higher and/or National

Strength and Conditioning (CSCS) certification;

Experience in curriculum development;

Experience in undergraduate student advising;

Experience with accreditation procedures (CAAHEP/CoAES);

Experience with online learning and course management software;

Record of emerging scholarship commensurate with rank.

Employment Conditions: A full-time, nine-month, one-year, non-tenure track position. Salary commensurate with qualifications.
