SFC Ruopp enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1995. He attended Recruit training at Parris Island and Infantry training at Camp Lejeune, NC. SFC Ruopp served with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines Regiment at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion at Camp Pendleton, California, with whom, he participated in the invasion of Afghanistan in November 2001. SFC Ruopp enlisted in the United States Army in May 2003, and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. As a member of “America’s First Team”, SFC Ruopp deployed to Iraq twice and participated in the battles of Najaf and Fallujah in 2004 and “The Surge” of 2006-20 SFC Ruopp served as a Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant and Company First Sergeant from 2008 to 2011 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. SFC Ruopp served as a Platoon Sergeant and Operations NCO in the 82nd Airborne Division from 2011 to 2014, where he deployed to Regional Command-South and Regional CommandEast in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. SFC Ruopp’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and the Expert Infantryman’s Badge. He is excited to train and mentor the future leadership of the United States Army as a member of the 49er Battalion.
