WHY CHOOSE SLU? • SLU is a nationally and globally recognized leader in social work education, ranked in the top 25 percent of programs by U.S. News and World Report. • SLU is founded on the Jesuit tradition of “educating the whole person” – learning as much as possible about social work and service while committing to serve humankind with compassion • SLU offers the opportunity for Lourdes students to get an MSW from a highly ranked and internationally known program without having to be physically present on SLU’s campus. • SLU offers students the opportunity to complete either the full 57 credit hour program or, for those students with course histories that are deemed eligible, an advanced standing format. • Our faculty are leaders in combining classroom activities and community- based practice. MSW - Master of Social Work COURSE DELIVERY FORMAT FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES The MSW program is offered in a hybrid model. Approximately 60% of the program will be taught through an online Blackboard format by Saint Louis University. The remainder will be taught in a face-to-face format on Lourdes Campus in Sylvania, Ohio, as will the practicum planning and seminar courses. Students who meet basic application requirements and have earned an undergraduate degree in any major may choose to apply to the full 57-credit hour program. Students who have earned a Bachelor of Social Work degree from a CSWE accredited program may be considered advanced standing. Those eligible could enter with up to 18 credit hours advanced standing, leaving them with as little as 39 credit hours to complete the MSW. SLU offers new and continuing MSW students partial tuition-remission merit-based scholarships if they submit and complete their application by the priority deadline of March 1. A completed application means all application components are received, posted and interview has been scheduled. Applicants who do not initially meet the scholarship criteria may apply for consideration as a current student after their first semester in the MSW program.
