Communications & Comments:
1. College enrollment for spring 2013 is ahead of last year’s spring enrollment of Dec 7, 2011 by 9.1

2. 20 students have submitted graduation applications for spring 2013; this is double last year’s
number
3. RCEDA and BC have developed a new business series to be offered for UM CEUs. The series will
begin in February and is titled Small Business Venture Training; the series is “a three part class
on business planning and creating the formal business plan. It includes analyzing a business
opportunity, feasibility, creating a marketing strategy and financial management.” More
information on dates, cost, etc. will be available in late December.
4. The Rob and Terry Ryan Foundation have donated $6,000 for the development of a CNA course
to be offered at the Bitterroot College. The course is being developed at the request of the
Bitterroot Job Service. Tory is working with Deb Morris to identify an instructor to develop and
then deliver the course. The plan is to offer the course on a regular schedule at least three
times a year at full-cost recovery.
5. Tory will be submitting the BC Implementation Plan with the college’s initiatives to MT 2-year Ed
Deputy Commissioner John Cech on Friday, December 14. The plan was written in consultation
with the College Brain Trust and focuses on bringing the comprehensive 2-year education
mission to the Bitterroot College. The BC plan will be available for Provost and Advisory Council
comments no later than Thursday, December 6.
6. The BC has hired Charles Roch Turner as its AmeriCorpsVISTA volunteer to develop and
implement a Local College Access Network (LCAN) for Ravalli County. Roch’s term begins
January 28 and lasts for one full year. Roch is finishing up a Masters in Public Administration at
the UM this semester; he is a lifelong Bitterrooter and a Veteran.
7. Kathleen has been accepted into Kansas State University’s online MS in Academic Advising
program. She begins coursework this January.
