Hi Paulette,
I am submitting my report from last Friday’s SPC meeting:
Kym Buchanan led this meeting. He gave an update on the prior week’s BRAC meeting, which mainly
discussed the decreased enrollment figures and the revenue impact. BRAC will be holding a budget
open forum on 10/28. Kym also gave an update on the UPS Ad Hoc Committee and mentioned that
there will be an open forum regarding shared governance on 10/29.
Kym brought some Strategic Planning documents to the group for input/review. The group discussed
how to best present new, ongoing, and completed strategic priorities in his “Playbook at a Glance”
summary page. The group discussed the importance of making the document a “living” document – to
add new initiatives as they come up, and to remove completed initiatives that then become part of the
overall campus culture/plan.
Kym also mentioned the possibility of merging SPC and BRAC. He will be bringing this up with the UPS
Ad Hoc Committee and BRAC as well. The group generally felt that there may not be a need for both
groups, as both are advisory in nature.
