What’s new in Room 216?
MRS. O’CONNOR’S 3RD GRADE CLASS
z Ask A 3rd Grader In Our Class About... z
The students handled the State Language Arts Test
like champions! They seemed confident and persevered
through testing this week! Thanks for making sure
students were prepared for Tuesday and Wednesday they all seemed rested and ready for the challenge.

In Math, our study of multiplication continued! We
worked on writing word/story problems when given two
factors and then solving for the product. Write a word
problem for this number sentence: 4 x 7. What is the
product? Can you draw an array to match the equation?
In Writing Workshop, we revisited the terms: noun,
verb and adjective. We worked with partners to
brainstorm a variety of “Winter Words” that would fit into
each word category. We also had several discussions
about “Tools for Writing Poetry” and how poems often use
“juicy” nouns, verbs and adjectives to help you visualize
what a writer is trying to say.
Mr. Butcher (Austin’s Dad) kicked off our classroom
family/cultural tradition presentations! We enjoyed
hearing about the “Annual Butcher Turkey Bowl”... tell
someone at home where this game is played and who has
won the past 4 years!

HOLIDAY PARTY: Our classroom party will be on
Friday, December 18th from 2:15-3:00. Thanks to
everyone who volunteered, donated items and/or helped
with the organization of this fun event!
WELCOME WAREHOUSE! Thank you for all the
donations made on behalf of our classroom to the
Welcome Warehouse. Your continued generosity and
support is very much appreciated!
NO SCHOOL: Winter Break is December 21st through
January 1st. School resumes on Monday, January 4th!
