The kids had fun introducing the concept of lying by playing the game, two truths and a lie. We then talked about how sometimes it's Ok to lielike if a stranger asks for personal information, or if you're playing a fun game that requires you to lie (like two truths and a lie). We also talked about how easily lies can get out of control when we try to cover a lie up. https://vimeopro.com/ wondergrove/good-behaviorvideos/video/102979015 A video that explains this habit in an easy to understand way- appropriate for k-2 In second grade we focused on how we can be the best version of ourselves by learning how to regulate our big emotions in the classroom so that we make positive choices. Each class is being equipped with a calming corner that the students can utilize when they are feeling mad, sad, anxious, or frustrated. The corner will have everything from books, to stuffed animals, ideas for calming stretches, and a calming jar. Ask your second grader how they plan on using their calming corner! In third grade we focused on striving for accuracy on our upcoming standardized tests. We went over important test taking skills and the kids made booklets to help them remember these tips. We also went over relaxation exercises that they could use during the test to help them feel calm and relaxed and ready to show what they know! Fourth grade we talked about reputations, and how reputations are formed. The students then thought about what reputation they strive to have. They then broke down that reputation to think further- if I want this reputation what would I have to be thinking, saying, and doing to live up to the person I know that I can be? We then ended with a self-confidence booster where the student passed around a paper and they wrote one positive word that described each peer in their room. In fifth grade we are taking a twist on the habit, Striving for Accuracy by focusing on representing who we are accurately. We did this by discussing reputations- how one is developed, how one can be ruined, and what part we have in the development of our reputation. We then turned and talked about other's perceptions of our actions, as this is a major way reputations are built. We watched a great youtube video about "how we want to be remembered" and then made our own video stating how we want to be remembered. The students looked at their videos as their personal goals: If I want to be remembered as ________ how should I act to achieve this?
