The consultant will work at home in one of the 11 counties under
the supervision of the NW AHEC Program Manager. They must
have high speed internet and be familiar with Microsoft Office
programs.

$15.00 Per Hour to $17.00 Per Hour
The terms of this consulting position are:
· Half-time (20 hours per week) for three months with possibility
for extension and pay increase
· No employee benefits are offered (e.g. health insurance,
retirement plan)
· Approved travel is reimbursed for mileage (IRS rate),lodging at
the state rate, and meals at approved rates
. Approved program expenditures are also reimbursed

A degree in a healthcare profession or in
Public Health, Health Education, Health
Sciences, Healthcare or Public
Administration, Community Development,
Business, or related discipline is required.
(Bachelors's degree required, Master's or
other advanced degree preferred). Two to
five years of professional experience.
Knowledge of non-profit management and
organizations, health
planning/administration or community
development/relations is essential, with a
demonstrated ability to successfully work
with diverse groups of people.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:
The consultant shall plan and coordinate projects in support of the Area Health Education Center
(AHEC) mission of enhancing access to quality health care for underserved populations in rural
areas. They will work under the supervision of the NW AHEC Program Manager in 11 northwest
Wisconsin counties on programs aimed at improving distribution of health care workers, achieving
racial and ethnic representation in health care professions, enhancing knowledge and skills of
health care professionals, and improving access to quality health care.
Some of the objectives of the programming are to:
· Increase the number of health care professionals practicing in rural and underserved areas. An
example of such a project is Wisconsin Express. See

· Achieve racial and ethnic representation in the health professions through recruiting, mentoring,
and other assistive programs and services.
· Improve understanding and skills through training in such areas as cultural competency,
Wisconsin public health priorities, and health literacy. The consultant may also do some grant
writing.
