Health Promotion Specialist
The University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida is seeking a Health Promotion Specialist for a fulltime, 12
month position. Incumbent will plan, implement and evaluation health promotion services for the
student community as part of the University of Florida's GatorWell Health Promotion Services. These
services will be based on specific campus population based health status and needs assessment data; as
well as, peer reviewed articles of evidence-based interventions. He/she will use the American College
Health Association's Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education, the ACHA Healthy
Campus objectives, and UF student health needs assessment data (and/or other college health status
surveys) to guide decisions and priorities. Knowledge of principles and practices of health promotion
theory and evidence-based practice with the ability to translate and apply that theory with a university
population is expected. Research experience is needed for conducting qualitative and quantitative needs
assessments. Excellent public speaking and writing skills along with some evening and weekend hours
required. Proficiency is needed in a variety of computer software applications including MS Office.
Candidate must be able to work in a multicultural environment and demonstrate a commitment to

This candidate facilitates departmental coordination in one or more of the following functional
responsibility areas: assessment & evaluation, outreach, residential programs, coalition building, grant
writing, training & professional development, health communications or social media/technology. In
addition, he/she must be willing to gain knowledge of, develop expertise in, design & implement health
promotion programs on a variety of issues based on needs assessment results (e.g. stress management,
eating disorders, nutrition, wellness, sexual health, alcohol, drugs, and tobacco issues, etc.). Minimum
requirements: master's degree in Public Health, Health Education or closely related field; or a bachelor's
degree in Public Health, Health Education or closely related field and two years of appropriate
experience. C.H.E.S. certification preferred. Expected starting salary range is $35,000- $46,500 annually;
