Job Description:

K0207960 Project Manager in the Bureau of Health Promotion
●
Plan, organize and facilitate the activities related to and manage the resources necessary to operate and maintain a
multiple channel chronic disease prevention nutrition and physical activity promotion program that engages the
active involvement of more than 200 partner organizations and agencies across the state.
●
Assure that program elements are completed and compiled appropriately in accordance with approved project time line.
●
Prepare or direct the preparation and maintenance of records and reports and manage budget expenditures for nutrition
and physical activity programs.
●
Provide technical assistance to local communities by interpreting grant expectations, resolving unanticipated barriers
to achieving project objectives, directing compliance reviews to assure adherence to agency policies, and advising on
strategy options to achieve local program objectives.
●
Conduct ongoing program evaluation.
●
Facilitate the ongoing development of broadly representative public-private partnerships, including the Governor's Council
on Fitness, Senior Farmer Market Nutrition Program, and state and local chronic disease risk reduction partnerships.
●
Conduct on-going recruitment of partners engaged in the development and implementation of priorities and strategies
for accomplishing the state's health priorities related to chronic disease prevention through physical activities and
nutrition interventions.
●
Tie Coalition function to program evaluation and the development of reports and position papers for use by the Department
and legislators.
●
Develop appropriate surveillance and prevention grant applications for funding to support and expand the state's capacity
to address identified statewide areas of need.
●
Promote public awareness of the link between health behaviors and disease and respond to requests for
programmatic information.
●
Provide presentations and outreach at the local, state, and national levels.
●
Represent the Department at professional conferences and workgroups at the local, state, and national levels, and
collaborate with other state and local agencies to develop statewide nutrition and physical activity objectives, data systems
and program strategies, including the development of contracts and interagency agreements.
●
Serve as the designated Kansas Fruits & Veggies-More Matters state coordinator, chronic disease nutrition contact and
state's physical activity liaison with federal agencies.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree (from an accredited university) and at least two years of experience in program management
and administration.
Preferred Qualifications:
●
Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred.
●
Masters degree in Dietetics, Public Health, Nutrition or Allied Health.
●
Advanced course work/experience in dietetics, public health, nutrition, health education, behavioral science or a related
field for a multiple channel chronic disease nutrition and physical activity promotion program, including at least one year
of management.
●
Experience in facilitating development of broadly representative public-private partnerships.
●
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to express oneself clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
●
Demonstrated skill in physical activity programming, dietary data collection and analysis.
●
Demonstrated ability to research, organize and present health information and health promotion materials to varied audiences.
●
Proficiency in dietary analysis methods.
●
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
●
Proofreading, editing, attention to detail.
