EQUIPMENT
OVERVIEW

Projector
To use the projector:
1.
Make sure both the projector and the needed
audio/video device (Computer, VCR, DVD, etc.) are
turned ON.
2.
Use the corresponding INPUT button on the
projector’s remote to activate the audio/video input
line for the device.
Computers, laptops, and document cameras are activated by using the
COMPUTER button on the projector remote. VCR and DVD players are
activated by pressing the VIDEO button on the projector remote.
This room may be equi pped with a VGA Switch that requires additional input
selection to display the device through the projector. A detailed explanation
of how to operate each device is given in the following sections of the manual.

Audio System
All audio in the Projector Controlled Audio System is adjusted directly
through the volume button on the projector’s remote. Additionally, the
remote‘s AV Mute button can be used to silence the audio and
simultaneously black the screen.

Note: When the computer is used for audio, sound is also controlled via the Windows
System Volume. This may also need to be adjusted to reach the desired volume.

1.)
Power on the Document Camera by pressing the POWER
button on the device.
2.)
Use the COMPUTER input buttons on the projector’s
remote to select the document camera as the video
source.

DOCUMENT CAMERA
To use the document camera:

To use the VCR:
1.)
Make sure the VCR and projector are turned ON.
2.)
Use the VIDEO input button on the projector remote to select
the VCR as the audio/video source.

DVD Player
While this room is not equi pped with a dedicated DVD player, DVDs
can be played through the PC’s DVD drive.
1.)
Make sure the PC and projector are turned ON.
2.)
Use the COMPUTER input button on the projector remote to
select the computer as the audio/video source.
3.)
Insert your DVD into the PC’s DVD drive.
4.)
If video playback software does not automatically open,
launch Windows Media Player from the application menu.
5.)
To play media in fullscreen mode, press ALT + ENTER or click
on the fullscreen toggle in the bottom right corner of the
window. To exit fullscreen mode, press ESC.

To play a DVD:

Guest Device Connection
To connect a mobile device:
1.)
HDMI - Disconnect the DisplayPort adapter from the HDMI cable (if
connected) and connect your mobile device to the provided HDMI
cable.
DisplayPort - Connect your mobile device to the provided DisplayPort
adapter and then connect the DisplayPort adapter to the provided
HDMI cable.
● If your device does not have a DisplayPort or HDMI connection, contact Tech Support for further
assistance.
● Some devices have proprietary, mini, or micro connections and will require an additional adapter to connect to
the room’s AV system.
● Also, some devices require proper configuration to utilize an external display. To configure your device
accordingly, please refer to the instructions provided by your manufacturer.
2.)
Use the corresponding input buttons on the projector remote to
select the guest device as the video source.
● When the correct projector input is selected while the guest device is connected, the AV system will
automaticly switch from the comptuer to the guest device.

GUEST DEVICES
Wireless internet connections are also available in most classrooms. For
instructions on configuring your device, contact Help Desk at x4375 or visit
www.uwsp.edu/IT/Network/Wireless.

Computer
To use the computer:
1.)
LOGON to the computer using your UWSP username and
password.
2.)
To display the computer’s screen on the projector, turn the
projector on using the POWER button on the remote. Then press the
corresponding input button on the projector remote to choose the PC
as the video source (see the “PROJECTOR” page).
Unlocking a computer:
1.)
Press and hold the POWER button on the computer until it shuts
down (typically, you will need to hold the button for 5 to 10 seconds
before the sequence will begin).
2.)
Press the POWER button again to restart the PC. When the login
screen appears, enter your UWSP username and password.
NOTE: Please remember to logoff the computer when finished.
After 60 minutes of inactivity, classroom computers will automatically lock, preventing
subsequent users from logging on.
SMART Podium
Touchscreen
This room is equi pped with a SMART Podium touchscreen that acts as an
alternate PC monitor and allows touch input into Windows 7. The main and
secondary monitors can be adjusted through the Windows Control Panel;
however, if problems occur with the setup of the SMART Podium, please
contact a Technical Support Specialist.

If the PC’s screen indicates that it has been locked by another user, you can
unlock the system by restarting it. To restart a locked computer:
