University of Montana General Education Requirements
To earn a baccalaureate degree, all students must complete successfully, in addition to any other requirements, the
following General Education Requirements.
All courses taken to satisfy General Education Requirements must be taken for a traditional letter grade and C- or better
grade must be earned.
Students are cautioned that approved General Education courses may change from year to year. To be used for General
Education credit, a course must be listed as approved in the class schedule for the semester a student registers for it.

Some courses satisfy more than one General Education group. Using one course to satisfy two different General

**To satisfy the Modern and Classical Languages requirement, students must successfully complete an introductory
sequence (101, 102 courses) in at least one foreign language (test out provisions are available, ask you advisor).
Alternatively, for certain majors exceptions are granted to the Modern and Classical Language requirement. For these
