The Twelve Days of the ‘03-‘04 Larson Christmas Card
On the Twenty-First day of January, the Christmas Card idea came to me – a concept of a blog (short for
“weblog,” an online log written by a person or multiple contributors – you’ll be able to find this one on our
website at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/3192).
On the Twenty-Second day of January, another idea came to me – two happy decades (of marriage
celebrated this June), and a concept of a blog.
On the Twenty-Third day of January, more ideas flowed to me – three years hence (I’ll try to get these
letters out a little more regularly in the future), two happy decades (note, it’s also twenty years for the
Macintosh, which has starred in previous issues of this card), and a concept of a blog.
On the Twenty-Fourth day of January, my true love was out of town (Mary was in Cincinnati for a Creative
Memories Regional meeting…getting the scoop on cool new products for her successful scrapbooking
business), … God has blessed us with – four wonderful kids (Eric, now 17, was at a ski retreat; Jon, now
14, was practicing on his Drum Set; Emily, 10, was playing bells and sounding out tunes by ear; and Jonah,
8, was winning the Wolf level of the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby), three years hence, two happy decades,
and a concept of a blog.
On the Twenty-Fifth day of January, the ideas came from heaven – five inches of snow (causing the wimps
here in Ohio to cancel school for the next day), four wonderful kids, three years hence, two happy decades,
and a concept of a blog.
On the Twenty-Sixth day of January, the alliterative idea came to me – six silly sketches (we got to see
Tim’s cousin’s husband, Bob Stromberg, perform at a local comedy club here in Columbus – the show was
taped and should air sometimes soon as part of the Bananas series), five inches of snow, four wonderful
kids, three years hence, two happy decades, and a concept of a blog.
…
On the Three Hundred Fifty-seventh day of January, I found this start of a Christmas letter from last year
and realized why so often people skip some of the verses of this crazy song :*). Over the intervening 330
days since I left off, the world now knows what a “blog” is; we’ve celebrated that anniversary at
Ravenwood Castle, a medieval-themed bed & breakfast in the southern Ohio hills; seen both the Cubs and
the Royals play baseball (at Cincy and Cleveland); enjoyed Eric taking on some of the driving tasks now
that he has his license; finished one school year and started another, now with 2 high schoolers; moved up
to the Bear level in Jonah’s Cub Scouting; had some great dance competitions last spring, but didn’t go to
nationals as Marching Band was starting for Jon; seen Jon (percussion) & Eric (trombone) do their “Crazy
for Gershwin” Marching Band show many times (Mary was the Band Nurse, too); had another day off of
school (today) due to the threat of bad weather; visited Chicago for Thanksgiving; visited King’s Island a
few times; started a new job (Mary’s now working at Children’s Hospital Close-to-Home clinics part-time,
in addition to her Creative Memories business); moved to a new office (Tim’s still at Lucent, but with
fewer people in the company some of the building was sold to a nearby hospital); started braces (Emily
didn’t like the first couple days, but is used to them now); contemplated moving (but didn’t); said goodbye
to our dear 16-year old pet, Kelly (leaving us with one pet, Chewie the Shih-tzweiller (or Rott-tzu);
appreciated another year worshipping at Faith Covenant Church; and thanked God for giving us another
year to praise Him and celebrate the sending of His Son.
We hope all is well with all of you,
Love from all of us,
Tim, Mary, Eric, Jon, Emily, & Jonah Larson
