Drexel University College of Medicine Hahnemann University Hospital PODIATRIC SURGICAL RESIDENCY PROGRAM PATHOLOGY ROTATION Goals: The clinical pathology rotation is designed to allow the podiatric resident to interact with the pathology department attendings/fellows/residents/and medical students in order to facilitate the learning of various aspects of pathology including: general pathology, autopsy, surgical pathology, and podiatric pathology. Competencies: The resident will be able to demonstrate the following competencies: 1. Understand clinical macroscopic exam, light microscopy and microbiological analysis 2. Analyze synovial fluid including identification of crystals 3. Fix specimens 4. Interpret pathological specimens 5. Evaluate laboratory data and its application to the pathological entity 6. Evaluate common podiatric bone and soft tissue specimens and their interpretation
