DEPARTMENT / PROGRAM Industrial Technology/Carpentry (Sustainable Construction Technology) II. SUMMARY The Carpentry/Sustainable Construction Technology program, provides the regional workforce with credentialed, skilled and competent carpenters to be responsive to emerging workforce needs. Four courses within the program pertain specifically to initial construction safety which is what local contractors have conveyed is their largest training burden for new unskilled employees. If approved, this proposed CTS for a “Construction Helper” The median annual wage for construction laborers and helpers was $30,190 in May 2014. (Bureau of Labor and Statistics) will help to mitigate potential employee’s learning curves and have a positive impact on employer’s overall bottom line making our graduates more attractive for immediate employment. This CTS will be completed during the course of a certificate/degree within the program or can be taken separately within one semester. IV.
