Please explain/justify the new proposal or change.  The current Master’s Degree option title is
“Mental Health Counseling.” The national accrediting body, the Council for Accreditation of
Counseling and Related Educational Programs, has changed the title of this specialty area to “Clinical
Mental Health Counseling.” To retain accreditation under the newest 2009 standards, programs must
now use this title. The change requested involves adding the word “clinical.” There is no change in the
degree option itself.
