The School of Media Arts is addressing the need for students declaring a minor in Media Arts to
come away with a comprehensive understanding of the application of digital technologies in the
arts rather than delve extensively into the production aspect. This can best be accomplished by
combining the critical elements of the story driven Digital Filmmaking specialization with the
artistic perspective of the Integrated Digital Media specialization. This streamlining will provide
the student with a stronger foundation in the critical survey and post-production aspects of the
media arts. Production courses become more appropriately reserved for the B.A. level, lessening
the production impact on the school.
