Please explain/justify the new proposal or change. 
The changes we have made to this option are designed to make the requirements more relevant
to students interested in human biology. In particular, biochemistry is essential to the study of
humans and the health-related professions for which this option prepares students, and we now
require biochemistry. Ecology (BIOL 340) is part of our core curriculum for all biology and
microbiology students, but the laboratory (BIOL 341) is not, so we eliminated the laboratory
requirement. The 400-level elective courses were chosen for their relevance to these students,
and we now include many more options from which students may choose according to their
particular interests.
What other programs are affected by your proposal?
