There will be no late homework and the only day to take an exam are as follows. All exams will be in our usual classroom. Test Time Date Exam 1 12:30PM-1:30PM Friday, June 17 Exam 2 12:30PM-1:30PM Friday, July 22 Final 12:30PM - 2:30PM Friday, August 5 WebWork: For this class we will be using the WebWork online homework system. This sys- tem gives you instant feedback on your homework. Also, I can monitor the classes progress and use this information to taylor lectures to the class. If you are concerned about using a computer for homework you are welcome to come talk to me about it. To get to WebWork go to http://www.math.utah.edu/online/ww/classes.html ADA Accomodations:The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that reasonable accommodations be provided for students with physical, cognitive, systemic, learning and psychiatric disabilities. Please contact me at the beginning of the semester to discuss any such accommodations you may require for the course. Tutoring Center and Computers: There is a free drop-in tutoring located in the math center. I strongly encourage you to use this facility since interaciton in class will be dicult due to class size. You can set up a group tutoring session for free as well. Since we will be using the WebWorks system for homework you will need access to a computer. As math students you have access to the undergraduate computing lab also located in the math center. Since the tutors are also located in the math center it is easy to get help when you run into trouble. Calculators: A calculator is not required for this class but, they are nice to have. For those of you who will continue on to take math 1030 you will be required to have one for that class. I recommend the TI-82. It will do everything that you will need for this class and math 1030 and can be purchased for $12.00 on ebay. I once bought one for $2.00 at a yard sale. I would stay away from the TI-85 and above. They are more expensive and more dicult to use. The TI-83 and TI-84 are good as well they will just cost you more money for things you might not ever use. Important Dates: Last day to drop w/o penalty Wednesday, May 25 Last day to add Tuesday, May 31 Last day to elect CR/NC Tuesday, May 31 Last day to withdraw Friday, June 24 Last day to reverse CR/NC Friday, July 29 Classes end Wednesday, August 3 Additional Remarks: Cheating will not be tolerated and may result in severe academic sanctions. Disruptive talking in class will not be tolerated. On the other hand, asking and responding to questions in class is strongly encouraged.
