Presidential Search Update
As we begin the search for our next President, the Board of Trustees have
retained the executive search firm of Hyatt-Fennell to assist in the process.
Cheryl Hyatt, a partner in the firm, is seeking your input and insights into
the expectations regarding the characteristics and qualities you would like
to see in our new President. Ms. Hyatt would appreciate your completing
this small questionnaire. Your opinions are a valuable part of the process
as she and the committee review applicant information. The responses will
be summarized by Hyatt-Fennell and shared with the committee and the
Board of Trustees prior to their review.
Please take a few minutes to fill it out and send it back to her
at: chyatt@hyatt-fennell.com.
Feel free to use as much space as you need. To keep within the timeline
she would like your answers by March 7th. If you prefer to discuss this
with her directly, please call Cheryl at 724-242-0476.

DID WE MISS YOU?
Phonathon 2016 is wrapping up this week.
Fourteen incredible student callers contacted
alumni and friends of Lourdes during the first two
weeks of February. They worked hard to gather
updated alumni contact information, share events
and happenings on campus and ask for support
for the Annual Fund.
During this short period of time, callers raised
nearly $16,000!
If you did not hear from us, we might not have your updated contact
information. To keep current with Lourdes news, go to: Click

9th Annual Celebration of Women Festival
Saturday, March 19, 2016
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Free Admission
Franciscan Center Commons, Lourdes
6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania, OH 43560
Lourdes celebrates National Women's History Month by recognizing the
diversity and vision of area women artists and business women. This
celebration of women festival is an indoor exhibition and sale of fine arts,
crafts and other creative expressions.
PURPOSE
The WAVE Festival originated as a way to celebrate the successes and
accomplishments of women throughout the local community. In the spirit
of our Franciscan values, we embrace the civic communities whom we
engage, celebrating the many talents of our participants, and welcome the
visitors who come to our campus. In conjunction with the annual
recognition of March as Women's History Month, we are pleased to bring
together talented artists, craftswomen, and performers for the afternoon. It
is our hope that the experience will not only impress and delight you, but
empower you as well. Proceeds will benefit a local women's charity.
Lourdes, the only higher education institution currently in Northwest Ohio
that began as a women only college, is proud to host the festival. Founded
by Mother Adelaide and the Sisters of St. Francis fifty-six years ago,
Lourdes embraces its history and the spirit in which we continue to
recognize and honor women who not only have shaped our past, but will
influence our future. For more information contact Marisol Strelow at 419824-3871 orwave@lourdes.edu.
CHARITY
The WAVE Festival Committee has selected Rebekah's Haven, a shelter
for homeless and needy women with small children, providing hope and a
safe place to stay, as the beneficiary of the 9th annual festival.
Past recipient organizations of W.A.V.E. Festival proceeds include: Aurora
House, Second Chance, Women Blessing Women, Harbor House,
Bethany House, Family Promise of Greater Toledo and many others.
Ecumenical Lecture
The Theological Studies department is pleased to announce our annual
ecumenical lecture. See below and the attached flyer for details.
Care for Creation: Muslim and Catholic Accord
Presenters:Fatima Al-Hayani, PhD & Sr. Shannon Schrein, PhD, OSF
Sunday, April 3 @ 3:00pm
Franciscan Center, Rooms A&B
All are welcome. Bring a friend!
With the very recent publications of Pope Francis's Laudato Si: Care for
Our Common Home and the International Islamic Climate Change
Symposium's (IICCS) Islamic Declaration on Global Climate Change, the
time is ripe for Muslims and Catholics to work more closely on ways that all
might reverence God's gift of creation and call our brothers and sisters to
action for the sake of our common home. Dr. Al-Hayani and Sr. Shannon
will discuss Muslim and Catholic understandings of the goodness of God's
creation, our special call as believers to treat the environment with respect
and awe, and some practical ways for doing this together.
DR. AL-HAYANI earned her doctorate in Islamic Studies from the
University of Michigan and has taught, lectured and published widely on a
variety of issues in the field, including Muslim understandings of science
and religion.
SR. SHANNON SCHREIN, a Sylvania Franciscan, earned her doctorate in
theology from Marquette University. Currently serving as the Director of the
MA in Theology at Lourdes University, she has shared her Franciscan way
of life and her love of Jesus and the Scriptures with her students for more
than forty years.
