About Paul D. Camp Community College
Opened in 1971, Paul D. Camp Community College is a public two-year educational institution with campuses in Franklin and
Suffolk, and a Center in Smithfield, VA. With the mission of providing diverse learning opportunities to enhance the quality of life
for students and the community, the College offers a wide array of educational opportunities and workforce training.
Campuses and Sites: Franklin Campus, 100 North College Drive, Franklin, VA 23851; Hobbs Suffolk Campus, 271 Kenyon Road,
Suffolk, VA 23434; Smithfield Center, 253 James Street, Smithfield, VA 23430.
Degrees & Certificates: Associate degree programs in Business Administration, Education, General Studies, Science,
Administration of Justice, Administrative Support Technology, Early Childhood Development, Industrial Technology, Management,
and Nursing. PDCCC also offers four one-year certificates and 30 career studies certificates that can be earned in less than one
year.
Clubs, Organizations and Programs: PDCCC has the following student organizations: Faith Unleashed in Everyday Life (FUEL);
Literary Club; Nursing Student Association; Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; the Science Club; Presidential Student Ambassadors
program; Student Government Association; Student Support Services program; and the Upward Bound program.
Dual Enrollment: In addition to day and evening classes, credit and non-credit workforce services and training, dual-enrollment
classes are offered in area high schools. Dual enrollment allows qualified high school students to enroll in college coursework
while still in high school.
Encore Learning: Non-credit courses for mature adults 50 and better who want to improve their skills, explore new ideas, and
interact with interesting people in their community. Choosing from a diverse collection of courses, learners can create their own
development program, expand their views of the world and enrich their lives and their communities.
Financial Aid: More than 70% of our curricular students receive some type of financial aid, totaling about $3.2 million in 20132014. Over 30 local scholarships are available.
Kids College: PDCCC’s summer enrichment series which offers unique workshops for rising 2nd – 12th graders designed to
teach new skills, develop new interests and hobbies, and explore career opportunities. Our Kids College includes courses in Arts &
Expression, Career Exploration, Hobbies & Interests, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math), and Student Success.
The Wizard/Online Tools: PDCCC promotes registration with the VCCS Virginia Education Wizard, an online one-stop resource
that helps students and their families make informed decisions about college and career choices. To access online tools, go to

Upward Bound: Prepares students for successful entry into and completion of postsecondary education. Upward Bound services
are designed to improve academic performance, increase student motivation and facilitate the transition from one level of
education to the next. Apply April 1 and the first week of May. Call 757-569-6764 for an application.
Workforce Development: Training and Workforce services are available at the College’s Regional Workforce Development Center
on the Franklin Campus, the City of Suffolk Workforce Development Center, Hobbs Suffolk Campus and the PDCCC Smithfield
Center.

American Association of Community Colleges.

How to Become a Student
There are five easy steps in the registration process:
1. The first step to becoming a student at Paul D. Camp Community College is to
complete an application. We offer an online application which can be found at:
www.pdc.edu/getstarted
2. Submit college/university and high school transcripts, if appropriate.
• You’ll find information to complete this step at
www.pdc.edu/admission/transfer-information.
3. Students must take Placement Tests (if necessary) at the appropriate location. Please
contact the Admissions Office to schedule a testing time.
• Placement testing information can be found at
www.pdc.edu/admissions/placement-testing.
4. Meet with a PDCCC counselor or an academic advisor to discuss test results and select classes.
•Call 757-569-6700 to set an appointment to discuss class options and your
preferred courses.
5. Pay tuition and fees by the established deadline using the available payment options.
• Financial Aid and Scholarships are available. Visit www.pdc.edu/financial-aid for
information. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for information on federal Student Financial Aid
opportunities.
Fall 2015 Tuition Rates
The State Board for Community Colleges has approved the following tuition and fee rates effective for the
Fall Semester 2015.

Out-of-State Military Contract Rate $144.65/credit hour
Out-of-State Business Contract Rate $222.65/credit hour
Out-of-State Resident 339.25/credit hour
Out-of-State E-Rate $244.65/credit hour
This includes: $8.50 technology fee per credit hour; student activity fee of $1.40 per credit hour; and an
auxiliary fee of $.75 per credit hour. Also, PDCCC offers federal student aid. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for

For out-of-state students, an additional $18.00 capital fee per credit hour is included. Residency status is
determined by the College Admissions Office.
