Under the Federal reporting method, if a student selects "Hispanic" as one of two or more races, the students is counted as Hispanic, rather than in the Two or More Races category. While UM-Missoula will use this method as required for its annual IPEDS report, we have found that it tends to significantly understate our Native American student population. To more accurately report our Native American population for internal purposes, the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education (OCHE) has created an alternative method wherein multiracial students reporting "Native American/Alaska Native" as one of two or more races are counted as Native American. This summary uses the alternative OCHE method. Due to this reporting change, ethnicity data published in previous editions of the Data Digest will not be comparable. 15,669 11,553 1,531 108 191 27 407 798 377 174 1 2,033 6 Office of University Planning, Budgeting, and Analysis The University of Montana __________________________________________________________ 2011-2012 Data Digest Ethnic Minorities as a Percentage of Enrollment by Student Level Graduate Students2 Undergraduate Students1 14% Percent Minorities Percent Minorities 14% 12% 9.6% 10% 8% 6% 4% 2% 10% 8% 6% 4% 2% 0% 0% 1 10.8% 12% 2011 2011 Fall Semester Fall Semester 2 Includes COT students Includes nondegree graduate students Percent Minorities All Students 14% 12% 9.8% 10% 8% 6% 4% 2% 0% 2011 Fall Semester Source: Registrar's Reports, Student Data Warehouse 7 Office of University Planning, Budgeting, and Analysis The University of Montana __________________________________________________________ 2011-2012 Data Digest Fall Semester Enrollment by Full Time and Part Time Students 2001 844 705 139 10,243 8,772 1,471 2002 933 763 170 10,482 8,744 1,738 2003 964 785 179 10,608 8,783 1,825 2004 1,069 768 301 10,602 8,888 1,714 2005 1,276 916 360 10,451 8,736 1,715 2006 1,484 942 542 10,585 8,654 1,931 2007 1,532 1,041 491 10,465 8,922 1,543 2008 1,641 1,122 519 10,780 9,040 1,740 2009 2,105 1,307 798 10,967 9,236 1,731 2010 2,444 1,633 811 11,133 9,430 1,703 2011 2,803 1,636 1,167 10,754 9,072 1,682 Freshman Full Time Part Time 3,117 2,857 260 3,132 2,788 344 3,123 2,752 371 3,119 2,788 331 2,992 2,694 298 2,856 2,537 319 2,781 2,545 236 2,946 2,696 250 2,980 2,747 233 2,927 2,694 233 2,733 2,495 238 Sophomore Full Time Part Time 2,021 1,808 213 2,195 1,909 286 2,135 1,865 270 2,176 1,906 270 2,196 1,910 286 2,243 1,984 259 2,104 1,923 181 2,094 1,899 195 2,144 1,942 202 2,194 1,986 208 2,069 1,861 208 Junior Full Time Part Time 1,993 1,760 233 2,015 1,793 222 2,107 1,836 271 2,117 1,848 269 2,100 1,801 299 2,090 1,785 305 2,166 1,953 213 2,118 1,883 235 2,103 1,866 237 2,216 1,985 231 2,179 1,946 233 Senior Full Time Part Time 2,362 2,020 342 2,375 1,946 429 2,457 2,046 411 2,409 2,038 371 2,398 2,025 373 2,527 2,081 446 2,628 2,216 412 2,741 2,279 462 2,811 2,327 484 2,862 2,408 454 2,948 2,476 472 750 327 423 765 308 457 786 284 502 781 308 473 765 306 459 869 267 602 786 285 501 881 283 598 929 354 575 934 357 577 825 294 531 All Graduate Students Full Time Part Time 1,581 1,063 518 1,643 1,101 542 1,780 1,199 581 1,887 1,233 654 1,875 1,242 633 1,892 1,205 687 1,861 1,223 638 1,786 1,160 626 1,849 1,201 648 2,065 1,222 843 2,112 1,241 871 Masters Candidates Full Time Part Time 1,066 677 389 1,101 694 407 1,203 770 433 1,171 687 484 1,149 678 471 1,156 637 519 1,122 650 472 1,071 608 463 1,148 675 473 1,158 693 465 1,144 705 439 Doctoral Candidates Full Time Part Time 515 386 129 542 407 135 577 429 148 716 546 170 726 564 162 736 568 168 739 573 166 715 552 163 701 526 175 907 529 378 968 536 432 12,668 10,540 2,128 13,058 10,608 2,450 13,352 10,767 2,585 13,558 10,889 2,669 13,602 10,894 2,708 13,961 10,801 3,160 13,858 11,186 2,672 14,207 11,322 2,885 14,921 11,744 3,177 15,642 12,285 3,357 15,669 11,949 3,720 College of Technology Full Time Part Time Mtn Campus Undergraduates Full Time Part Time Postbacc/Unclass/Other1 Full Time Part Time Total UM-Missoula Full Time Part Time Source: Regent's Report A-1 1 Includes nondegree graduate students 8 Office of University Planning, Budgeting, and Analysis The University of Montana __________________________________________________________ 2010-2011 Data Digest Who are the 3,720 Part Time Students?
