Scholarships & Grants Offered by Lourdes University
Lourdes University offers more than $4 million of
institutional dollars in scholarships, grants, and awards every
year. Millions of additional Federal and State financial aid
dollars are also awarded to Lourdes University students who
have filled out the FAFSA.
Lourdes was recently recognized as being one of the best
values in higher education in the nation. Its return on
investment (ROI) is ranked in the top 6% nationally, and
in the number of students receiving financial aid, Lourdes’
ROI ranks in the top 1%.
LOURDES UNIVERSITY MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
Academic merit scholarships are awarded competitively
based on previous academic performance and standardized
test scores. Applicants are automatically considered for
academic merit scholarships upon receipt of all application
materials. Tau Scholarships require supplemental materials.
Merit Scholarships Available to
Full-Time Students
Tau Scholarship: an $8,000 award, distributed equally
over four years of full-time enrollment (must maintain
a 2.7 GPA and have no major infractions of student
policies). Recipients work an average of 4-5 hours per week
with Campus Ministry. Five scholarships will be awarded
annually to excellent applicants who have a 3.2 or higher
GPA from high school or a transferring institution and
who demonstrate potential to exemplify Catholic and
Franciscan values in their relationships with others. A
special application is required. Information can be found

Presidential Scholarship: Up to $32,000, distributed
equally over four years of full-time enrollment at Lourdes
or in a Lourdes-sponsored off-campus study program (must
maintain a 3.0 GPA). Approximately 50 scholarships will be
offered to top applicants to the university based on previous
academic performance and standardized test scores. Early
application is encouraged for top consideration for these
awards. (Past recipients have typically earned at least a 3.5
GPA in previous academic work with ACT or SAT scores of
comparable distinction.)
Merit Scholarships Available to
Part-Time Students
Dean’s Scholarship: Up to $20,000, distributed equally
over four years of full-time enrollment at Lourdes or in
a Lourdes-sponsored off-campus study program (must
maintain a 2.75 GPA). Approximately 75 scholarships will
be offered to excellent applicants to the university based on
previous academic performance and standardized test scores.
Early application is encouraged for top consideration for
these awards. (Past recipients have typically earned at least
a 3.0 GPA in previous academic work with ACT or SAT of
comparable distinction).
Excellence Scholarship: Up to $10,000, distributed
equally over a maximum of eight continuous semesters
(does not include summer), available to new part-time
students aged 21 years or older (must take at least 6
credit hours per semester and maintain a 2.75 GPA).
Approximately 25 scholarships will be offered to excellent
applicants to the university based on previous academic
performance and standardized test scores. Early application
is encouraged for top consideration for these awards. (To be
considered for this award, applicants must have a minimum
3.0 GPA in previous academic work with ACT or SAT
of comparable distinction. (Transfer students without
standardized test scores can be considered).
Faculty Scholarship: Up to $10,000, distributed
equally over four years of full-time enrollment at Lourdes
or in a Lourdes-sponsored off-campus study program (must
maintain a 2.5 GPA). Approximately 100 scholarships will
be offered to excellent applicants to the university based on
previous academic performance and standardized test scores.
Early application is encouraged for top consideration for
these awards. (To be considered for this award, applicants
must have a minimum 2.75 GPA in previous academic
work with ACT or SAT of comparable distinction.

LOURDES UNIVERSITY GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
University Grants: The University Grants are awarded
on a need and merit basis to full-time students who have
submitted a FAFSA.
and Scholars Housing on campus will receive a $1,000
grant to be applied toward their housing. This grant can be
combined with a Wolf Grant.
Wolf Grants: Students who live at least 35 miles from
Island Grant: This tuition grant will financially assist
new Lourdes bachelor degree seeking students who are
direct from high school and are from Islands whose
residents are eligible for Title IV aid as follows:
• U.S. Citizens - Puerto Rico (PR), the U.S. Virgin
Islands (VI), Guam (GU), and the Northern Marianna
Islands (MP)
• U.S. National - is someone who is a native of American
Samoa or Swain’s Island
campus and are required to live in university housing are
eligible for a grant ranging from $875 to $1575 depending
on their federal Pell status.
Honors and Scholars Housing Grant: Students
who are selected to participate in the Honors Program or a
Dean’s Scholar Program and who choose to live in Honors
Additional Lourdes University Scholarship Opportunities
Athletic Scholarships: More than $1 million dollars in talent scholarships are awarded to
athletes. Award levels are determined by coaches.
Other institutional aid is available. Additional application is required to be considered for Endowed
Scholarship. Application process takes place each February - March. See www.lourdes.edu for details.

This scholarship is funded by the generosity of Frank W.
Cubbon, Jr. to honor his wife, Babs Cubbon. The Cubbons
are friends of Lourdes.

Chuck Oswald Memorial Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship is named in memory of Chuck Oswald,
a community leader, philanthropist, and champion for
education.

The Fund will financially assist students pursuing a Bachelor
of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies [BAIS] degree with a
concentration in the Natural Sciences or students pursuing
a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree with a Biology major.

• BAIS major with a concentration in the Natural
Sciences or Biology majors pursuing a Pre-Med or PreVet course of study

Eleanor Kahle Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Because Mrs. Kahle considered Lourdes her academic and
spiritual home, her sons established this scholarship in 1996
to honor her lifelong legacy of giving to the community.
The Eleanor M. Kahle Memorial Endowed Scholarship
benefits non-traditional students who have demonstrated
community involvement, volunteerism, and an ability to
succeed academically.
Criteria to Apply:
• Non-traditional student, 25 years or older
• Documented community involvement and/or volunteer
service
• Full-time student in good standing

Douglas J. Boston Endowed Nursing
Scholarship
The Douglas J. Boston Endowed Nursing Scholarship is
named after Douglas Boston, a 1998 alumnus of Lourdes
University. Doug’s strong belief in the mission of Lourdes
and the nursing profession has initiated this scholarship
which will support and encourage fellow Lourdes students
pursuing a nursing career.

Scholarship
The fund was created to honor Evelyn Campbell, who
received her associates of arts degree from Lourdes at the age
of 89. This scholarship is funded through the efforts of
Mrs. Campbell’s family, as well as Lourdes Alumni.

Shousher in honor of Sister Ann Francis Klimkowski and

The Living Angel Memorial to Ben honors Benjamin J.
Hogg, who was an art student at Lourdes and passed away
tragically during his first semester. His family established
this scholarship “in memory of his music and art. He

Scholarship
Tom and Betsy Brady Endowed Study Abroad
Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is named in memory of Steven G. Hills,
a lover of art. The Chair of the Art Department will
coordinate the application and selection process for suitable
candidates, and funds are disbursed through the Art
Department.
Criteria to Apply:
• Financial need and/or academic merit, but above all, talent
• Complete FAFSA
• Art Major
• Renewable – must reapply
This scholarship is funded through the generosity of Tom
and Betsy Brady, friends of Lourdes University. The fund
will financially assist students participating in a Lourdes
Study Abroad Program who demonstrate financial need.

Student Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
Walter H. Chapman Endowed Art Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor and
commemorate Lourdes University students who have passed
away.
Criteria to Apply:
• Financial need and academic achievement
• Complete FAFSA
• Full-time student in good standing
• Any major
• Any year of study
This scholarship is funded by the Sylvania Chamber
of Commerce to recognize and commemorate Walter
H. Chapman. This fund will financially assist Lourdes
University Art and Art History students participating in the
Art Department’s Study Abroad Program.
Criteria to Apply:
• Art or Art History major in good standing
• Any year of study
• Complete FAFSA
• Renewable – must reapply
Sylvania Community Improvement Scholarship
This scholarship was established as a community assistance
program for graduating residents of the Sylvania area to
pursue higher education at Lourdes University.
Criteria to Apply:
• Must have resided in the Sylvania school district a
minimum of 2 years prior to graduating high school
• Does not need to be a current year graduating senior
• Applicant’s parents must have resided in the Sylvania
schools’ taxation district
• Minimum 2.5 GPA in high school or at Lourdes
University
• Must state a college-funding plan
• Completion of:
- Application form
- Evaluation form
- Evidence of intent to attend Lourdes University (application, registration, or letter of intent)
• Selection by committee
Women’s Initiative and United Way Endowed
Scholarship Fund
This scholarship will financially assist underserved women
who demonstrate financial need and other challenges as they
earn their college degrees.
